Counseling Services
Individual Counseling
Carolinas Counseling Group believes in helping individuals of all ages cope with life’s challenges and reach emotional health and wholeness. Whether a person is dealing with recent stress or a lifelong struggle, our counselors provide a safe, supportive environment where individuals can share and work through their burdens, develop skills to cope with difficult situations or emotions, and find hope in the midst of pain.
CBT - Exposure & Response Prevention
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is a type of treatment that helps people identify and change beliefs and assumptions that have a detrimental impact on behavior and emotions. It is effective for a number of issues including depression, anxiety and relationship problems. Exposure and Response prevention is an aspect of CBT that is very effective in treating anxiety disorders.
Family Therapy
Families are complex and ever-changing. They can be the source of great love, but also of great frustration and, sometimes, pain. At times, families may need outside help to deal with relationship strains and challenging life events. Counseling can help a family learn about its dynamics, build upon its strengths, and heal its hurts.
Remote/Telehealth Therapy
Telehealth therapy is counseling and psychological services using live video interaction. It allows the therapist to continue to provide counseling in the event of illness or when in-office visits are not available. Also, it is a way for clients who live far from our office to receive treatment without adding hours of travel . Our therapists are using an application called Google Meet for telehealth appointments. Not every situation is appropriate for video. You can discuss that with your therapist if you are already a client.
Child and Play Therapy
Children think and act differently than adults do and, therefore, need therapy that meets them where they are. Until age 12, a child’s emotional development far outpaces their verbal development, which is why most children struggle to verbally express how they feel. Our Play Therapists are trained to help children process their emotions in the way that feels most natural: through play!
Spiritual and Personal Growth
When someone thinks of counseling it is usually because they are having a problem of some kind. However, the process of therapy is tremendously effective for personal growth. It is a safe place to ask hard questions about spiritual matters as well as developing strengths and self-awareness. It is a unique place to get compassionate and insightful feedback to help you improve relationships, find vocational satisfaction and draw closer to God.
Marriage Counseling
Carolinas Counseling Group works with couples at all stages of their relationships. From premarital counseling and newly-wed challenges to stagnant marriages and infidelity, our counselors work with all types of relationship difficulties to help couples create and maintain healthy, and satisfying relationships. Couples, however, do not have to be in crisis to benefit from couples counseling. Our counselors also provide “tune-ups” to help couples identify and build upon their strengths to further enhance their relationships.
Trauma Therapy
Sadly, in life, there are events where we feel our lives are in danger or witness another’s life being in danger. These traumatic events leave marks on our souls and minds. We have counselors with special training to help those who have experienced trauma - whether a tragedy or abuse - and help you reach wholeness and healing.
Psychological Assessment
Diagnostic testing includes assessing for: ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disorders, mood and trauma symptoms, and personality functioning.
