Marissa Grant, LCMHC
Marissa Grant, MA, LCMHC received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health with a concentration in Play Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) in August 2021.
She believes the counseling relationship is a collaborative process with both the counselor and client, and a strong therapeutic relationship is the agent for change. Because each client’s needs are different, she takes an integrative approach to counseling, incorporating various therapy techniques to best fit the client’s needs and goals. She uses a blend of person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, and play therapy. She believes in the client’s resiliency and is passionate about providing a safe and genuine environment for them to process how they would like.
Marissa loves using a child-centered play therapy approach in working with children, allowing them a space in which they have the freedom to feel safe, empowered, encouraged, and supported.
She is also passionate about providing an integrative approach with adolescents, teens and adults on a variety of mental health issues.
Lastly, Marissa has experience and enjoys working with parents/guardians to train them in child-parent relationship training (CPRT) and establish stronger parent-child relationships.
She has counseled in a variety of settings, including schools, private homes, and through telehealth.
She also studied abroad in Spain and values a multicultural perspective in working with clients.
